Love is...

Love is a serious felling,
It needs devotion and sacrificing.
Love is to give, not only to get,
Otherwise there isn't love at all.

A Fairy Tale (2)

... The beautiful princess received the story that the fine young man had written, and read it with great interest. She loved the story. She loved the way he wrote. Moreover, she understood that the fine young man was really writing about them two and knew that reading the story allowed her to understand the thoughts and intentions of the fine young man.

The beautiful princess felt great joy in reading the story, for it was a fairy tale, and much more important fairy tale was about her favorite subject-LOVE! A story within a story within a story……

“This story makes me feel so strange-yet so wonderful” she thought. Then she laughed-because she knew it was the story of her life. She knew then that the wise old man had chosen the two of them very well, and told him that she wished, finally, to meet the fine young man. The wise old man told the fine young man that he was to meet the beautiful princess the next day. And so they met.

The fine young man arrived at the meeting place- a small clear forest, a little early and wondered greatly at how the princess might look. Might she have three eyes? Or only one leg? What if she was 750 pounds?

Before long, the princess emerged from the edge of the forest. He stood in the middle of the clearing. He stared at her intently as she approached. He immediately noticed two things about her. First, she was more beautiful than he could have imagined. Second, she would not look at him. He wondered why she would not look at him-did she find him not handsome?

They both began to talk at the same time. The words just flowed out like waterfall. They were like two children. The moment one stopped talking, the other would start. And they talked. They talked about life. They talked about the world. They talked about their past. But more than anything else-they talked about love, love, love. Old love and new love, ideal love and real love, loves past and the hope for loves future.

The hours ticked on and still they talked. The fine young man was not able to remember when, but at one point he realized that she did indeed look at him. And he looked at her. When she spoke, he looked deeply into her eyes. While they talked, his eyes looked into hers and his mind asked ‘Are you The One?’ ‘Are you my next love?’ He wondered very much if she had any idea of what he was thinking while he looked into her eyes.

He listened to what she said and realized that she had many wonderful qualities. She was clearly very smart, very articulate, very well educated. She was kind, sincere. She was honest and open. And she was a beauty! A few times, while she talked, he looked at her and imagined what she looked like smile. He knew that she would be very beautiful indeed.

Although the sun was high when they had met, and it was now starting to dip below the horizon-it seemed only a few minutes had gone by. Despite all the talking they had done, they both felt that they had so much more to say.

The beautiful princess said she had to go and leave. The fine young man said he wished to walk with her safely through the forest. But she said no. She said she was able to take care of herself, and also that she had many animal friends in the forest to look after her.

She turned one time to the fine man, embraced him, and then told him to sit down. He obeyed her. She looked at him and said “I thank you sir, for a truly magical afternoon.”

The beautiful princess turned and walked through the forest to the edge and without even looking back, disappeared....

A Fairy Tale (1)

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who lived far away. After some years, she journeyed to another land to find fame, fortune, and happiness. And she tried. She dreamed success and lived happily.

But, one day, she realized that she also wanted something else in her life. She wanted a man who will share her life. She knew that there were many handsome princes in this new land. But she did not know how she could find the right one, the special one.

She was told to consult with a wise old man... So, she went to see this wise old man and told him her desire. The wise old man listened very carefully and asked her many questions. She answered them all truthfully. The wise old man asked the beautiful princess to write down some things about herself. And she did. Then, the wise old man told her she must leave him for 2 days and come back.

The wise old man knew many good men in the village. He selected one fine young man who could fulfill the wishes of the princess. The wise old man showed the fine young man writings of the princess. And he told him to write down his response to her writings and come back 2 days later and he did. And so it went on like this.

On that day, the beautiful princess came to the wise old man, read the writings and wrote a response, she asked the fine young man to do the same thing. On the next day in time the fine young man started to learn more about this princess. He found that the wise old man had selected well, for she seemed to be just perfect to him.

The fine young man began in time to develop some feelings to the princess and longed to see her. He wrote down his wish. She did not respond to his request, but instead, talked about other things.

Now the fine young man began to wonder-why did the princess seek out the old man in the first place? Was she really looking for someone special? Why had she not written down? Would he be mistaken? He wondered at all these things-and wondered more why she did not want to meet him. Nevertheless, he continued to do as he was told.

One evening, the fine young man saw a beautiful sunset, followed soon by a beautiful moonrise. He wrote to the princess about the beautiful scene. He wished they could have seen each other. He also wondered more about the princess. He was most curious about her now.

Two days later, when the fine young man came back to the old man to see the writings of the princess, he read her words. She did not seem to talk much about love or romance, but said that she really like his long description of the sunset, clouds, and moon-shine. She asked him to write longer letters like that.

Now the fine young man was troubled. He wished to meet his princess, but she did not seem to do so. He decided that, since she asked him to write long stories to her, He thought long and hard about what to write. What story to tell? How could he approach this princess? He thought and thought. Finally, he decided to write something to her, and took out his pen and paper and began to write like this:

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who lived far away...

The Time to Part

Goodbye my love, Goodbye my love,
We'll go to different ways.
Perhaps we'll never meet again.
Only reminiscence in my mind:
Your kindness, your attentive caring,
your passion, your sweet kiss.
All are past, as the wind away.

In that wonderful winter,
Unexpectedly we fell into love
Which made the season warm,
And made me being the happiest.
Now, the emotion is past,
The time to part comes,
What will remain in your heart?

Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again --- by Xu Zhimo

  Very quietly I left
  As quietly as I came here;
  Quietly I wave good-bye
  To the rosy clouds in the western sky.

  The golden willows by the riverside
  Are young brides in the setting sun;
  Their reflections on the shimmering waves
  Always linger in the depth of my heart.

  The floatingheart growing in the sludge
  Sways leisurely under the water;
  In the gentle waves of Cambridge
  I would be a water plant!

  That pool under the shade of elm trees
  Holds not water but the rainbow from the sky;
  Shattered to pieces among the duckweeds
  Is the sediment of a rainbow-like dream?

  To seek a dream? Just to pole a boat upstream
  To where the green grass is more verdant;
  Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight
  And sing aloud in the splendour of starlight.

  But I can’t sing aloud
  Quietness is my farewell music;
  Even summer insects heap silence for me
  Silent is Cambridge tonight!

  Very quietly I leaved
  As quietly as I came here;
  Gently I flick my sleeves
  Not even a wisp of cloud will I bring away

Dream

Dream, dream, sweet dream,
In it, there is how wonderful a story.
Don't break it, because
It is windy and drizzly outside.

Spring is coming up unconsciously,
Who could know my deep emotion?
Who could share my feeling?
Who could touch the string of my heart?

I made a deep and serene dream.
My love embraced me warmly,
We watched lights on the beach,
We indulged in everlasting imagination.

Will someone come into my dream?
To compose a wonderful story with me?

I would like to dream about love and life. A dream was broken and then I made another new one. They always give me hope...

Butterfly Love

A butterfly floating in sky,
Accidentally attached on a flower.
Be not surprised and not minded,
Soon separated and flew away.
Butterfly still dancing in the air,
Flower still blooming on the ground.
Though they have a happy time,
A good beginning isn't all.
